Customs Officer Accused of Stealing

Customs guard John Pinder was arraigned in Magistrate’s Court, accused of being found in possession of almost $1,000 worth of stolen property.

Pinder, 48, of Jubilee Gardens, was charged before Magistrate Guillimena Archer with stealing by reason of service.

According to court dockets, Pinder allegedly stole one Gucci handbag, three Gucci wallets, two Coach wallets and four Coach bags which were the property of the Bahamas government. It was not clear why the government owns such luxury items or who they were intended for.

Pinder pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was granted bail in the amount of $5,000 with one surety.

Pinder was also charged an additional $50 and his cell phone was taken away after it rang during the proceedings.
