Bran: God Wants Bahamians To Gamble

Branville MccartneyBran McCartney, who has publicly stated that, if elected, he will introduce gambling in the Bahamas, has now said that God is guiding the DNA.

In essence, Bran is saying that God wants Bahamians to gamble.

But the really big news is that God has apparently switched parties. It was not too long ago that God was a PLP. Progressive Liberal Party leader, Perry Christie used to say that God was guiding the PLP.

In 2007, after consulting with his spiritual mentor, self-proclaimed bishop Neil Ellis, Christie claimed that PLP rule was the “will of God”. He said God brought him and the PLP government into this country to do right and no weapon formed against the PLP government, led by Perry Christie, will prosper.

Christie thought he was a divine-right king. He must have forgotten that the Bahamas is a democracy and that, in a democracy, a government is answerable to the people.

“The prime minister is deluded,” responded FNM opposition leader Hubert Ingraham at the time.

“No political party has a divine right to form a government. In a democracy the right to lead a government is given to a political party by the people, who express their will freely in an election,” Mr Ingraham said back then.

Sadly, despite being a Supreme Being, God must not be very good at politics as the PLP lost that election.

But that wasn’t the first time God voted PLP.

Back in 2003, Mother Pratt told Bahamians that when God steps up and casts his ballot, it’s only for the Progressive Liberal Party.

Many Bahamians wondered why they should even take the time to vote when God has already chosen the leader. It’s not the people, it’s God, the big balloteer, who decides who’s in and who’s out.

In an editorial back then, the Guardian newspaper said, “With God back on earth and voting PLP… there’s no point in anyone running for anything unless they are PLP. God said so through Mother Pratt.”

She must have gotten that attitude from Lynden Pindling who also thought that God had given the PLP the right to rule The Bahamas. Rigging elections, victimization and funding his party with drug money had nothing to do with it.

In the Bahamas, we have witnessed a steady proliferation of politicians being chosen by God to lead the people. Of course, what else would you expect in such a “Christian” nation. And along with these “men and women of God”, there has been an explosion in their wealthy lifestyles. Surely just a coincidence.

Bahamian politics have been influenced by divine intervention ever since the Bahamas became an independent nation. So, it is no surprise that God has now aligned himself with the Democratic National Alliance.

It is that divine intervention and God’s guiding hand that are behind the favourable response that the DNA has received since its launch six weeks ago. Just ask Bran.

The former Cabinet minister is certain that he has been handpicked as an “instrument” of God to lead The Bahamas. This is proven by the tremendous public interest in the newly formed third party.

“I believe what is going on is far beyond human, no one man; myself or other members of the DNA, would be able to attract this type of support.

“I think this is divine; this has nothing to do with me or with the DNA quite frankly. I think this is something that the Almighty has His hands in,” the Bamboo-Town MP said while a guest on a radio talk show.

“I always asked to be an instrument of the Lord, I always asked that, and for what has happened over the
last six weeks since the formation of the DNA has been incredible,” he added.

Seems Bran is no different than old King Charles of England. Charles once told the English Parliament that he didn’t need them. He said he had been chosen to govern, not by the people, but by God, who had entrusted him with “the care of the liberties of the people.”

Of course, not everybody saw it that way. Charles was later beheaded by the very people he had been chosen to govern.
