A Spiteful McCartney Gunning For Ingraham

Bran McCartney does not like Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham. Any time he can, the Democratic National Alliance (DNA) leader will take a shot at his former boss.

Mr McCartney once went so far as to threaten that he would switch from his current consitutency, to run in North Abaco, if the Prime Minister dared to mess with the boundries of the Bamboo Town constituency.

Starting off with a bang, the DNA’s campaign seems to be turning into a whimper as it becomes increasingly obvious to many that Mr McCartney’s real goal is revenge against Mr Ingraham for allegedly not showing the young politician the respect he thought he deserved.

But many former supporters are questioning whether spite is a valid campaign platform.

At a street meeting in Murphy Town, Abaco, on Tuesday night, Mr McCartney introduced his weapon against Mr Ingraham, a novice politcian named Sonith Lockhart.

Campaiging on Mr Ingraham’s North Abaco turf, the DNA’s newly-placed candidate said, “It is time for a new mind a new vision and a new face”.

Talking about himself in the third person, Lockhart said, “Sonith Lockhart is that mind that vision and that face.”

McCartney told Mr Ingraham’s constituents to not to be afraid to vote against the Prime Minister in the upcoming election.

“Use me as your voice against the injustice,” he said. “Ingraham doesn’t own you and there’s no need to be afraid of him. Remember he works for you.”

Meanwhile, the DNA’s candidate for South Beach, Sammie “Star” Poitier, was having his candidacy revoked.

Mr McCartney said that Poitier and the DNA’s candidate for High Rock, Grand Bahama, Philip Thomas, were not living up to the party’s expectations.

“There are certain requirements that we expect of each candidate in each constituency, certain procedures and policies we have implemented for the better representation of each constituency, and when candidates don’t comply with those procedures and policies we have to look and see what is best for the constituency,” McCartney told a local newspaper.

Mr Thomas, however, said he had been removed as a candidate because he dared to disagree with Mr McCartney in public while campaigning in Grand Bahama.

Mr McCartney said the DNA will soon announce its major slate of candidates, including those who will fill the slots of Mr Poitier and Mr Thomas.

“We certainly are running a full slate,” he said.
