Two Men Convicted Of Sex With Children

Two men were each convicted in separate cases of a sex crime on a minor and given a prison sentence.

Both men were indicted for having unlawful sexual intercourse with a young girl who was entrusted in their care and were tried in a Magistrates Court.

Kenneth George Mackey was initially brought up on the charge back in August of 2007 when it was alleged that he perpetrated the crime against the then 13-year-old girl.

The trial opened in the Eight Mile Rock Court before Magistrate Gwendolyn Claude the same year.

The 56-year-old Pine Forest, Eight Mile Rock, man was represented by Attorney K. Brian Hanna.

The young girl took the stand during the trial and told the court of that fateful incident.

Mackey was found guilty and, on February 15, 2012, he was convicted and sentenced to three years at Her Majesty’s Prison for unlawful sexual intercourse with a dependent.

In another case, 27-year-old Jeffrey Wellington Mackey, was charged with two counts of indecent assault.

The Holmes Rock man was arraigned in March 2010 before Magistrate Claude.

He was represented by Attorney Wallace Allen.

During the course of the trial, the 10-year-old girl testified that Mackey touched her inappropriately on two occasions.

He, too, was found guilty and convicted on February 15, 2012.

Magistrate Claude sentenced the Holmes Rock man to nine months behind bars on each count to run concurrently.

Police Corporal Kevin Williams was the prosecutor in both matters.
