Summer Campers Welcomed To Emanji Circus

Nassau, Bahamas – Daniel Johnson, Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture officially welcomed children of various summer camps to Emanji Circus Arts, the first Bahamian circus on Thursday, July 19.

The third production entitled “Odruda” opened at the National Centre for the Performing Arts on July 19 and continues until July 21.

Mr. Johnson said the circus is the culmination of a lot of hard work and the result of one of the summer camps run for the Ministry of Youth Sports and Culture by Jarvis Grant where people get to learn the art of circus.

“It is an art – fine art. These are Bahamian children who are performing and running this entire show. We support this programme fully,” he said.

“Odruda” is a circus-oriented show that features a variety of acts such as trapeze arts, silk cloth, acrobatics, pole climbing, and much more.

Emanji Circus Arts started in 2002 as a one-man act featuring Jarvis Grant, an experienced circus performer who has an extensive background in performing and training.

The performance is based on the European style of acts of human ability, dexterity and bravery.
