West Nassau Rotary Inducts Newest Member

On Thursday, October 18th, The Rotary Club of West Nassau inducted its newest member Christiaan Sawyer.  He was sponsored by his dad, Rotarian Dwight Sawyer.

Mr. Christiaan S. S. Sawyer is the Managing Director and Principle owner of Sunryse Shredding Services, the Bahamas’s first Mobile Document & Information Destruction services company, which offers secure and confidential destruction services.

Mr. Sawyer, attended Queens College and furthered his studies in Toronto Canada, where he attended Humber College and Ryerson University. After his schooling, he worked for Canada’s largest brokerage company Nesbitt Burns as a trained Certified Network Engineer for 5 years.

After a 13 year stint in Canada Mr. Sawyer returned in 2000 to start his own business, Sunryse Shredding Services. He has grown the business to 2 mobile shredding units, servicing numerous businesses throughout the Bahamas. In early 2012 the company added its paper recycling division and has compacted and baled approximately 1200 metric tons of paper for recycling.

Mr. Sawyer is also the owner of Jigsaw Records Management, a full service records and information management company.

He was the recipient of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2008. He is a former member of Toastmasters Club 7178, and currently serves as the Chairman of the SME Division of the Chamber of Commerce.

He is an active member of the Hillview SDA church. Hobbies include, reading, sports and travelling. He is currently married to one wife, Mrs. Nadine Sawyer of 14 years and they have 2 children Jared (8) and Alisa (6).

He is passionate about business ownership and empowering young people throughout the Bahamas to be resourceful, and committed to pursuing their dreams.
