Colombia Arrests Bahamian For Drug Trafficking

According to Luis Alberto Perez, director of Colombia’s anti-narcotrafficking unit, Colombian authorities have detained a Bahamian citizen wanted on drug trafficking charges in the United States.

Matthew Ian Ferguson was arrested in Monteria, approximately 310 miles northeast of Bogota.

Ferguson, who goes by the alias ‘Matlock’, is thought to have worked with Colombian and Mexican drug cartels. Perez claimed Ferguson arranged the transportation of Colombian drugs into Mexico through Venezuela and Central America.

Ferguson is also suspected of having worked for Daniel Barrera Barrera, a Colombian drug lord who was detained in Venezuela in September.

The United States has issued an extradition request for Ferguson.
