First Potcakeman Triathlon

The inaugural “Potcakeman” triathlon will be taking place at Jaws Beach on Saturday September 21st. The sprint distance race makes the event ideal for first-time participants.

The first male race finisher will win a stylish Tissot T-Race Touch watch donated from John Bull and female racers will compete for a relaxing Resort Vacation Certificates 7- night stay in any of their worldwide locations. There will also be fantastic prizes for winners in each male/female age group categories from 16 to 60+.

Sun Bum will be supplying their sun care products to all participants at the start of the race. Pappa Surf will be providing life guard duties and Cycles Unlimited will be on hand for any last minute bike tune ups.

The swim-bike-run route starts in the ocean at Jaws Beach for a 750m swim, cycle for 21km clockwise to Frank Watson Blvd onto Adelaide before returning for the transition into a 5km run along the trails of Clifton Heritage Park.

They’ll be refreshment stations along the course for competitors to keep hydrated with water donated from Aquapure and Gatorade from Thompson Trading Co. The triathlon will feature chip-timing courtesy of Purina, which automatically times racers as they cross each transition area and at then at the finish line.

All race finishers will be rewarded with either a Carlsberg Elephant or Somersby Cider donated from Liquid Courage and a sandwich made by Subway.

Dr. Truszkowski a contemporary medical acupuncturist from The Blake Integrative Medical Clinic will be offering complimentary kinesiotaping, soft-tissue work, dynamic stretching and basic musculoskeletal injury assessment before, during and after the race.    Club One Gym will also be providing post race massages.

Following the main event there will be a “Puppy Tri” race and relay for children ages 6- 15, featuring a course of 100m swim, 5k bike and 1k run.An awards ceremony and post-race celebration will immediately follow the events. “Golden Knight” 400m athlete Ramon Miller will be presenting the prizes. There will also be a raffle draw, the top prize being a Jamis mountain bike donated from Cycles Unlimited.

The race is being organized by the non-profit organization Baark! (Bahamas Alliance for Animal Rights and Kindness). All money raised from the event will go towards their spay/neuter and education programs all over the Bahamas.

The Potcakeman Triathlon is still open for entries and race organizes encourage all participants to register before September 7th to be guaranteed a race Tshirt and finishers medal.
