Numbers Winnings Could Have Been Motive in Abaco Murder

The Abaco native who was shot to death outside his home Monday night was apparently killed after winning $50,000 from a numbers house.

An article in Wednesday’s Tribune identified the man as “Stanley Saintville, a ‘quiet man’ who coached a football team.”

The Nassau Guardian identified him as Stanley Saintvil.

The man lived on Forest Drive in Marsh Harbour, Abaco.

A woman believed to be his wife or girlfriend and their one-year old baby girl were also shot during the incident. They were airlifted to Nassau and are said to be in stable condition.

The deceased man had apparently won over $50,000 in an Island Luck draw, although police did not confirm that.

Police said “a male armed with a handgun entered the home demanding cash. During the incident a struggle ensued between the deceased, [his wife] and the suspect which resulted in the deceased being shot multiple times to the body.”

The murder is the 91st homicide recorded by Bahamas police in 2010, setting another new record for homicides in The Bahamas.
