One Dead After Plane Crashes in Bahamas

One man is dead after a small cargo plane flying from Fort Lauderdale to the Bahamas crashed Tuesday.

Bahamian officials recovered the body of a man and search efforts are underway for the body of a second person who was on the plane when it crashed around 3:00pm Tuesday near Nassau.  Luggage containing women’s clothes was found.

The man’s body had been found floating in the Atlantic Ocean amid the wreckage of the twin-engine Beech 18 aircraft, which was registered with Monarch Air Group, an air shipping company based in Florida.

It is believed that the pilot and co-pilot were the only people on board.   Their identities have not been released.
