Caribbean Public Health Agency Now a Reality

CARPHABasseterre, Jul 4 (Prensa Latina) The Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), a delayed regional integration dream, has come to fruition as a legal institution after being signed by eight states of the area.

The implementation of CARPHA put end to the 32 Summit of Heads of State and government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) started in Saint Kitts and Nevis since last Thursday.

Three countries members of the regional organization: Bahamas, Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago signed this Tuesday the Inter Governmental Treaty that provide the legal base for a new agency.

Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Grenada, Saint Lucia and Saint Kitts and Nevis signed it since early this year and now are completed the eight countries necessary to give institution characteristic to the integration mechanism.
