BTC’s 4G Speeds Up Abaco

BTC 4G Fun Day in Marsh Harbour, Saturday, May 20

The leisurely pace in Abaco has been cranked up several notches with the arrival of BTC’s blazing 4G network on Saturday, May 19 as faster download speeds, better call service and enhanced browsing capabilities made their way to the island via BTC’s state-of-the-art cellular network. The official launch ceremony took place during a 4G Fun Day at BTC’s Marsh Harbour store beginning at 10am.

“Residents and visitors will both be pleasantly surprised at the improvements we’ve made over the last few months, completing phase one coverage of the northern island’s expansive land and surrounding cays with the most advanced telecommunications network available,” said Marlon Johnson, Vice President, Brand & Communications. “With many of the cell sites in Abaco now completed, customers will certainly notice a dramatic difference in their cellular speeds.”

Abaco marks the fifth island network to be upgraded behind New Providence, Grand Bahama, Exuma, Bimini and The Berry Islands. Ever since BTC launched 4G in Nassau in December – coinciding with the opening of its flagship store in the Mall and Marathon – the company has been on an aggressively fast track to upgrade its infrastructure countrywide, offering its customers the ability to browse the internet, watch music videos and play interactive mobile games on their smart phones.

The 4G launch party took place the day after the opening of BTC’s newly renovated store in Treasure Cay, the seventh store to be revamped so far. Festivities kicked off Friday evening at DnR Sports Bar and Grill featuring music artist DMack and continued throughout Saturday in Marsh Harbour as hundreds flocked for 4G prizes, food, DJ music and a live concert by a local band. The BTC celebration concluded with a party at Snappa’s 9pm Saturday evening featuring musical performers Veronica Bishop and KB.
