Father of Four Shot Dead at Home

45-year old Telisa Cener was shot to death on the doorstep of his home in Chippingham, Nassau, on Tuesday evening.

The semi-skilled mason and water salesman was found lying on his back at the entrance to his home with a single bullet wound to his chest.

Mr Cener had been living at the Quarry Mission Road location with his wife and four children for four years, after moving there from John Road.

About six months ago he was accosted by thugs and robbed of $200.  Neighbors warned him then that living in the back, off the road a bit, was dangerous.

Police think Mr Cenrer heard a knock at his door, and when he opened the door he was shot.

Police have not said what motive there could be for the crime, but it was apparently not a robbery.

Crimes, particularly murder, armed robbery and rape in the Bahamas, especialy in Nassau, are at an all time high and have spiralled out-of-control.

Corruption in the police department and the courts make it difficult to prosecute people even for murder.
