Golden Heart Award Call For Nominations

Nassau, Bahamas – On Saturday February 19th, 2012 at the Annual Heart Ball held at Sheraton Nassau, a well known educator, Girl Guides supporter, Zonta Club member and model citizen became the recipient of the 2 011 Lady Sassoon Golden Heart Award. Miss Marjorie W.T. Davis O.B.E was nominated for this award by people who felt she should be honoured, while she is living, for her selfless efforts to improve the lives of others. Miss Davis was not the only nominee and felt honored to be selected from a very worthy pool of nominees.  According to R E Barnes, “The nomination of Miss Davis stood out as a reflection of what we look for in a Golden Heart Award winner. The award is presented to a person who gives of themselves, selflessly for the betterment of their fellow man”.

In an interview with Ms. Davis she said, “I am grateful to have received the award. Everyone should think of the importance of doing good for one’s neighbor. It’s important to train young people to start young. I started as a girl guides. I made a promise and continue to live it. Girl guides teaches you to work together, leadership and helps to build character. Everyone should have an attitude to do as much as they can, for as many as they can, for as long as they can”.
