If you read or listen to the news, you have probably heard about financial troubles at major social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Meta (owner of Facebook and Instagram) and X (formerly Twitter).
In 2024, LinkedIn let go of 202 employees, and in 2025 Meta laid off 3,600 employees. TikTok also announced a 10 percent workforce cut (300 people), and X currently has less than 2,900 employees after layoffs in 2022.
