Coming Soon: Sawyer’s Fresh Market Paradise Island

Paradise Island, Bahamas – Calling it a demonstration of confidence in Paradise Island and the Bahamian economy, Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper today officiated the groundbreaking of an 8,000 square foot Sawyer’s Fresh Market, the latest addition to Sterling Global’s Paradise Landing community.

Cooper said the $7.5 million investment is just another milestone in the effort to revitalize the island.

“Every investment is a golden day in the story of investments and tourism in our country,” he said.

Cooper added, “So, this isn’t just a supermarket we’re launching today. I think this is significant for Paradise Island. It’s significant for the tourism product.

“…I’m delighted that the investors saw this for what it could be and not for what it was.”

The supermarket will be the first of its size on Paradise Island, and will play an integral part of the total transformation of iconic Hurricane Hole Marina and the island itself, allowing residents and visitors alike to enjoy a major supermarket for the first time on the island.

“The vision is to provide a high-end food store, and we are up to that challenge,” said Learline Moss Sawyer’s Fresh Market CFO.

“It’s been really good to see us go through the process of negotiations to actually being here today.”

The gourmet grocery store is slated to open in summer 2023, and will be part of Paradise Landing, the new luxury community that’s home to Hurricane Hole Superyacht Marina. The community will also feature upscale residences, professional office space, fine dining restaurants, waterfront bars and retail shopping.

Developed by Sterling Global, which has been building and investing in the Bahamas for 25 years, these additions to the local community are bringing a welcome economic and lifestyle boost to Paradise Island and the Bahamas.

Referring to the development as “Downtown Paradise Island” Chairman David Kosoy said it’s an example of the company’s commitment to fulfilling its promises.

“We started this because we wanted to revitalize Paradise Island, which we’ve done. We wanted a Downtown Paradise Island. And to do that, we had to service all of the people that live here.”

Kosoy added, “It has put The Bahamas — around Paradise Island, in the marine industry — on the map even more than it was.”

In addition to the many benefits to the Paradise Island community, the construction of the supermarket will add 50 construction and 75 permanent jobs to the broader New Providence economy. Kosoy also noted that the project is truly a Bahamian one, using a team of all-Bahamian architects and builders.

Sawyer’s Fresh Market currently operates two stores in Freeport, Grand Bahama.

At Paradise Landing, it will present a curated selection of gourmet groceries including a full-service meat and seafood case and a deli featuring artisan sandwiches, rotisserie chicken, breakfast sandwiches, and a coffee bar. The store will also provide the freshest produce, including organic and locally grown products whenever possible.

Sawyer’s will be open to the public at large and will also offer yacht provisioning for guests of the marina. Orders can be placed in advance for large quantities and other special requests. Customers can also purchase online and via a mobile app, options that are expected to be available by the time the store opens next year.

The new store will offer extended hours, 7 a.m.-10 p.m. every day including Sundays. Unusual for grocery stores in the Bahamas, this is intended to provide convenient service to locals, visitors and the yachting community.

The new Hurricane Hole Marina recently opened after a complete redevelopment that transformed it into a world-class destination for superyachts.  The expansion, created from underused upland, doubled the size of the iconic marina without extending its footprint into Nassau harbour. The state-of-the-art redesign added upscale amenities and the latest in technology, from amply powered docking facilities with 24-hour security to in-slip fueling, reliable Wi-Fi and internet connectivity and on-site concierge services.  The new marina can accommodate yachts up to 420 ft long with a 240-foot turning basin and a depth of 14 feet.

With its world-class offerings, the Hurricane Hole Superyacht Marina is set to further establish Paradise Island as a top-tier destination in its own right.

The supermarket is just the latest in Sterling Global’s efforts to curate a space that brings together high-end residential and commercial spaces for the benefit of Paradise Island residents, visitors and the general public.

With an expected completion date of summer 2023, Sawyer’s Fresh Market on Paradise Island will be the largest on the island, offering a range of services including delivery and online ordering.
